Painting plein air combines the best of both worlds; the challenge of painting and the enjoyment of the natural world. Although I doubt I will ever abandon the studio, the longer I paint, the more I enjoy the challenge of working quickly out of doors and attempting to capture an impression of a scene and light.

I can think of no greater compliment than the one paid to me by a woman who pulled to the side of the road when I was painting in Cape Breton, “Thank you for helping me see how beautiful this is. I drive by every day without really seeing it.”

I have studied with north Florida artists Eleanor Blair, Linda Pence, Alisson Lebaron, Peggy Mixon, and Kana Handel. Painting at paint outs in Evinston and Melrose has cemented my passion for painting on location. I spend summers painting en plein air in Nova Scotia, Canada.
