I am an admirer of California colorist painters. I strive for a 'contemporary realism', clearly identifiable subject matter rendered with loose brushwork and exuberant color. My goal is to use suggestion and color to depict beautiful scenes as they catch my eye and imagination; landscapes, still-life or figures. I often paint 'en plein air' for enjoyment of brilliant light, colorful foliage and varied terrains.
I've studied at the Crealde School of Art, the Old Lyme Academy of Art, Valencia Community College, and Scott Christensen's 10-day intensive workshop.
